I think I left a bit of my heart in this wee pub. My bestfriend was taking us on quite the tour of Manchester searching out all the old/no longer there sites where certain favourite bands of his once played, which lead us to the Hacienda. The Hacienda, unfortunately, no longer exists, but in it's place, stand a block of new flats. Directly across the street sits City Road Inn.
We wanted to find some place to go ASAP because the weather was less than enjoyable and we were all freezing. With loads of places to choose from, we decided upon this pub.
From the outside, it looks a wee bit like a murder house, but once you get in, it's quite warm, old fashioned and inviting. It was pretty empty when we first arrived, but no worries, the four of us were loud enough to make it seem like there were more people (three americans and a scot make for an interesting group).
We ordered drinks and to our dismay, they were out of a few things, but in the end, we ended up enjoying every drink we ordered (which ended up being about 6 rounds in total). There was a jukebox on the wall, which my bestfriend proceeded to feed mega pounds in to it and it ended up being a really great pregame to dinner and the rest of our night.
They serve food here, which smelled lovely. People were ordering meals left and right and it smelled like onion rings could have been on the menu. The staff we did encounter were lovely and inviting as well.
i think for reminiscence sake, we'll be back should we visit Manchester again. A great wee pub with loads of food and drink, a pool table, sport on the telly and a jukebox. What more could you ask for? -

Solid place to grab a pie and a pint. I got the lamb and beef pies with peas. Good. Peas with mint take a little getting used to. Good selection of beers and cask ales. Full liquor bar as well. BT and sky sports are shown here on multiple TVs. I caught a Man U and City game here. Nice local atmosphere.

City Road inn
This pub is just off Deansgate A two minute walk from the tram stop.Staff was very friendly The bar at this time wasn't too busy The price of drinks with city centre prices. -

Convenient and traditional boozer on a busy crossroads close to Deansgate locks and also Deansgate train station. Friendly bar staff, a good amount of seating and good beer. The place looks a little tired in places and prices are generally up there with some of their trendier neighbors. £4 is enough to pay for a pint of lager in an old style pub in this part of town.

I nipped in the City Road Inn for a quick drink after getting the train into Manchester. It's a small place and it didn't strike me as somewhere I'd want to go too often, or for more than one drink either.
The selection of drinks is ok, although again the bar isn't that big so there's only so much you can squeeze behing it. I was pining after a Crabbie's and they did sell this which I was very glad for!
We were only there for one drink, so I can't say this is a review of a full experience here, but the staff seemed fairly friendly and it was populated by a decent mix of older and younger people. Not a bad experience by any means, but not a remotely memorable one either.
